Wróćmy jednak do Feng Shui. Wybór właściwego miejsca do zamieszkania, to w pierwszej kolejności wybór działki, która pozwoli na zbudowanie domu o interesujących nas parametrach. Dokładnie tak – o interesujących nas parametrach, bo rodzajów domów jest wiele. To, także rodzaj działki, która pozwoli na prawidłowe „wpisanie” domu w środowisko i uzyskanie oczekiwanych korzyści.
Pierwszą zasadą Feng Shui jest „czerpanie korzyści z Sheng Qi środowiska” i przenoszenie jej do wnętrza domu. Znany z wielu publikacji rysunek - model Siling pokazuje tę prostą zależność. Wiele osób mówi o feng shui, jako o geomancji. Zgodnie z definicją słownikową termin „geomancja” oznacza rodzaj wróżbiarstwa. Jednakże, kiedy zajrzymy do opisu terminu „geomancja” sporządzonego przez Christophera Cattana w roku 1558, przeczytamy:
Geomancja zwie się Gy, słowo greckie. Co Ziemię znaczy, i Mancie, to jest wiedza. Albo, by dać właściwe opisanie, pochodzi od Gyos i Magos, co znaczy poznanie rzeczy ziemskich przez moc ciał wyższych, czterech żywiołów, siedmiu planet i dwunastu znaków niebieskich. (tłumaczenie Marek Geisler).

Dokładnie tej właśnie definicji użyli myśliciele XIX wieku, by przełożyć chińskie określenie „feng shui” na termin „geomancja”, które w tym czasie pojawiło się wśród nurtów myśli Zachodu. Generalnie sinolodzy zawsze krytykowali stosowanie pojęcia „geomancja” w odniesieniu do „feng shui”, gdyż to drugie w dosłownym tłumaczeniu oznacza „wiatr i wodę”.
W internetowej encyklopedii znajdujemy: GEOMANCJA gr., forma wróżbiarstwa, której celem jest znalezienie najbardziej odpowiedniego miejsca na budowę obiektów sakralnych, siedzib władców, także domów prywatnych; rozwinięta zwł. w Chinach (FengShui).
Geomancja to wiedza o Ziemi, żywiołach, cyklach. Opisuje strukturę i funkcje Ziemi w odniesieniu do ciała człowieka. Geomancja jest nauką. Studiując chińską geomancję, możemy zauważyć, że uznaje ona Ziemię za żywy organizm, a wszystkie nasze wysiłki są skierowane w stronę dążenia do harmonii. To właśnie feng shui pozwala korzystać z geomancji, jako praktycznej wiedzy pomocnej człowiekowi w jego ziemskiej egzystencji.
I chociaż nauka materialistyczna odrzuca koncepcję Ziemi, jako istoty żywej, pozostaje faktem, że współczesnemu człowiekowi brak „czegoś” w tym całym mocno zurbanizowanym świecie. Nie czuje się on tak, jakby tego sobie życzył. Sztuka życia w harmonii z Ziemią, czerpania maksymalnych korzyści z tego faktu, oraz bycie we właściwym miejscu i czasie często nazywane jest mianem feng shui. Posłużę się w tym miejscu definicją zamieszczoną w „Podręczniku żywej Ziemi” (Living Earth Manual z roku 1982), którego autorem jest Stephen Skinner.
„Sztuka życia w harmonii z Ziemią i czerpania jak największych korzyści, spokoju i dobrobytu z faktu bycia we właściwym miejscu i we właściwym czasie nazywana jest feng shui”.

Wiele osób sądzi, że to egzotyka, nie mająca odniesienia do naszej zachodniej rzeczywistości. Mylą się jednak, ponieważ u podstaw feng shui legły nauki wspólne nam wszystkim: astronomia, matematyka, fizyka, metafizyka i wiele innych. To, że koncepcja ta, czy raczej nauka, wyszły z Chin, kraju dla nas egzotycznego, nie dowodzi braku użyteczności tej wiedzy dla naszego regionu świata, czy dla jakiegokolwiek innego. Użyteczność ta jest uniwersalna, wspólna wszystkim ludziom na całym świecie.
Jedną z przyczyn powstania takiej opinii jest także fakt, że wraz z przybyciem feng shui do świata zachodniego, przyszły również kolorowe, obce nam gadżety, które nie istnieją w naszej zbiorowej świadomości zachodniej, których znaczenia my nie rozumiemy. Jednak feng shui może łatwo obyć się bez tych przedmiotów, lub zastąpić je znanymi nam symbolami, obiektami. Proszę pamiętać, że feng shui, które widać, to nie jest feng shui. Chińczyk powiedziałby, że feng shui ma pomóc nam czerpać Qi ze środowiska i wykorzystywać je dla potrzeb człowieka. Qi, powinna pracować dla Ciebie, nie przeciwko Tobie, dlatego też idąc dalej - nie zapominając o właściwym miejscu, otoczeniu, powinniśmy zająć się także wnętrzem naszego domu. FengShui, to miliony rzeczy, tematów, dlatego mamy tak wiele definicji. Wszystkie one są prawdziwe i potwierdzają fakt, że FengShui jest bardzo złożone, bo wszystko jest ze sobą ściśle powiązane, a powiedzenie o tym za pomocą krótkiej definicji – jest niemożliwe.
Szukając problemów w pracy, w firmie, przyczynę możemy znaleźć w domu. Powie nam o
tym miejsce (przestrzeń), w którym żyjemy, czy pracujemy. Gdy mieszkamy w środowisku (przestrzeni) o „złym” FengShui, wcześniej, czy później jego wpływ na nasze życie będzie dostrzegalny. Jednak, czy my Ludzie Zachodu, potrafimy zaakceptować fakt, że w naturze WSZYSKO składa się z wzajemnie uzupełniających się przeciwieństw? Te przeciwieństwa nazywają się Yin i Yang. Czasem można znaleźć twierdzenie, że FengShui jest „Psychologią Przestrzeni”, bo przecież w istocie jest tym także....
Niezależnie jednak od wszystkiego, co zostało skrótowo poruszone w tym artykule, FengShui to potężna Wiedza i jakże bardzo użyteczna także dla naszego kręgu kulturowego.
Jednak dla nas Ludzi Zachodu, FengShui nadal kojarzy się z magią i zabobonem, ponieważ w takiej wersji do nas dotarło. Prawdziwe treści zostały przed nami ukryte. Często usłyszymy: to zabobon, przesąd. Jednak najdziwniejsze w tym wszystkim jest to, że WCALE nie musimy wierzyć w feng shui, by ono działało, bo ono po prostu JEST.
Korzystając z feng shui, możemy po pewnym czasie stwierdzić np., że teraz żyje nam się, lub pracuje bardziej komfortowo, że jest łatwiej, lepiej. Nasze racjonalne myślenie odrzuca wszystko, czego nie możemy zmierzyć, zważyć, policzyć, zobaczyć, przeprowadzić doświadczalnie. Tymczasem i nasza racjonalna nauka nie ma odpowiedzi na wszystkie pytania. Dlaczego tak trudno jest nam Ludziom Zachodu, zaakceptować fakt, że często za wielkimi odkryciami kryje się „wątła” nić Intuicji? Jednak ostatnie lata pokazują prawdziwe oblicze sztuki Feng Shui, sztuki, która jest nie tylko Wiedzą w naszym zachodnim rozumieniu, ale jest także czymś, co na razie trudno jest nam zaakceptować, ponieważ nauka nie potrafi tego zbadać.
